| Irish Pool Players Return From
2008 European Pool Championships
Ireland’s pool team has returned home after 10 days of play at the 2008 European
Pool Championships in Germany which seen some fantastic displays throughout
the event coming from the Irish players in all categories when they competed
against the best players in Europe which seen up on 40 European Nations represented
at this wonderful and spectacular event put on by the EPBF.

The players that represented Ireland in all categories at the
2008 European Pool Championships in Germany.
With the final banquet coming to a end on Saturday evening after the beautiful
bar-b-que which was laid on for all nations the EPBF president Gre Leenders
described the games in the Sauerland Stern Hotel as ten unforgettable days,
with colourful fireworks in Hollywood style and cool rhythms which closed
the 30th European Championships.
Several hundred spectators in Sauerland Stern Hotel and several Thousand
users on the computer experienced a perfectly produced show, with which the
EPBF (European Pool Billiard Federation) allowed to end the Championships
of 2008.

The following players from LtoR: Paul Strawbridge, Ronnie Boyle
and Paul Tierney (cap)
represented Ireland in the 3-aside Seniors Team Event at the 2008 European
Pool Championships in Germany.
278.900 balls were potted, 3313 matches were played and 100 medallions were
awarded on the ten competition days. 594 participants from 40 nations took
part in the competitions. All disciplines and all age groups were represented
by the pupils up to the senior.
The German team could register most medallions of the 40 starting nations.
9 x Gold got the team under team leader Werner Ertel and coach of the national
team Andreas Huber, 5 x silver and 11 x bronze, the second place went to Austria
(4/4/9) right before Great Britain (2/0/2).

The following players from LtoR: Coilean Massey, Ben Mc Moran (cap) and
Carl Martin
represented Ireland in the 3-aside Pupils Team Event (under-16) at the
2008 European Pool Championships in Germany.
Gre Lenders appreciated in the presence of Ian Anderson, President of the
WPA (World Poolbilliard Association), the achievements of the sportsmen
and -women he called the Jubilee EC a big success.
The games of Willingen will come into the history as unique games. Our thanks
are valid for the sportsmen and the city of Willingen for it’s big enthusiasm
and hearty hospitality", explained the EPBF president.

All in all a great performance came from all the Irish players representing
Ireland’s American Cue Sports against these top class players who are the
best in Europe with a lot recognised as top players on the World stage also
.
