EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Date: March 23, 2005 09:27AM
just wanted to know if anyone could shine any light on the forthcoming european championships? im going in 4 weeks and i know very little about it. I think anyone playing in just the nine ball and the team tournament dont start to the 24th or 25th of april and are meant to be there on the 20th. So its gona be a long wait for anybody involved?

I might be wrong here but thats what i have been told.

Paddy,

Yeah, thats right. Plus everyone has to stay in the official Hotel of the tournament, which makes it expensive. I reckon I'll probably go for the full amount of days, even though it'll cost a bit. I think I'll spectate on the 8-ball, cheer on the Irish lads and maybe take the odd excursion round holland.

I dont know what the story is with flights but if we fly Ryanair on the 20th we might arrive too late for accreditation. So it might mean flying 19th or flying another airline.

to be honest id rather play in just the 9ball and the team event. They must think money grows on trees. Id rather fly out the 24th til the end. If its gona be too expensive i will have to pull out because i simply couldnt afford it. Ive stayed in the hotel before and its very dear.

Anyone who is going and can afford the extra money id advise them to get a single room because the double room i stayed in before was a joke!!! Your practically lying beside the other person. Maybe it has changed since i have been there but i seriously doubt it.

Would i be right in saying that paul strawbridge would fly over on the 19th or 20th and have to wait till the 24th to play? thats absolutely ridiculous the way they have organised this event. . . . . It was the same in the world amatuers. The dutch always have great venues to play in but when it comes down to the simple things to run in a tournament they simply havent a notion..........................

Hi Paddy

Yep u are right u have to stay for the whole event and stay in the hotel for that time also. But it is a great event to be arounf even though watching can be a bit boring all the time also depending how it is set up there are usually very few practice tables for the number of players there but we will see apparently it is a much bigger venue this year.

See u in Holland, our event starts later than yours so I think we arrive on the 24th (not sure of the date)???

So good luck to all the team who may have matches before I get there.

Regards
Fred
