no spot for scotland in world championship!!!!!!!

JUST CAME ACROSS THIS ON THE SCOTTISH FORUM!!!!!!!

Iíve just been informed by Matchroom Sports that, sadly, SAPPA will not have a Wild Card spot in the 2008 World Pool Championships. This is due to the WPAís increasingly stringent qualification rules for the World Championships with European entry now mostly controlled by performances in EuroTour events.

On behalf of everyone involved with SAPPA, Iíd like to thank Luke Riches and his staff at Matchroom for giving us the opportunity to be able to send players to the World Championships over the years.

In place of a World Championship qualifying tournament, we will be holding a Scottish Open event, an event which, unlike all other SAPPA events, will not have a seeded draw. This allows the prospect of top players being drawn together in the opening round of the tournament with one of them having to face the long slog through the Losersí Bracket to qualify for the last 16 and the prize money.

More information on this and the rest of next seasonís events will be made available after this weekendís Tour Event in Glasgow. I hope to see you all at The Q Club on Sunday.

Yours in sport

Ross McInnes
