surely the "all ireland 9ball pool championship" will be held before its time to decide anything...
maybe raise the entry fee and give the winner of this prestigious title the chance to go.if indeed ireland DO get a spot.
thats my opinion

yeah everyone entitled to there opinion!!! but to be fair there will be good players there that dont support the tour(that only play in that event) that could win it, should they go to the worldchampionship if they win one event (in my eyes no way)!!!

but its all hear say at the minute but everyone has there own opinion about it and i have mine...

I think it's best to keep the national event seperate and hold a qualifier on it's own.

That way you don't detract from the eventual Champion's success.

It also shouldn't matter if someone plays in 1 event or many, if you're good enough then you will win and represent Ireland at the WPC (if given a spot).

i dont agree with that at all!!!! anyone could turn up for a qualifier and that aint fair on people who represent the irish tour and travel to all events!!(euro champs also)

if thats the way it should be maybe there shouldnt be a ranking system at all!!!!

everyone to ther own!!!

maybe a top 8 or 16 qualifier from irish tour could work!!!

Hi Paddy (congrats last week btw!)
Youve just contradicted yerself there mate (above) but if you have changed you opinion on the matter no probs.
If we do our homework we will find that this spot(Scotland)is a sponsors wildcard and i think fair play is due to the Scottish Assoc. in holding a qualifier.
I mean to say they could just send P Holtz or M Valentine every year and there prob wouldnt be any complaints....would there?...mmmmm!
And due to the fact Mr Holtz has already qualified this year (last 16 06') takes away a big player from the qualifier leaving it open (especially being single elim) for someone to come in and take the spot.
Getting back to the National thing, if an American/Filipino/South African was to win or runner up a Eurotour event then he would gain a spot. Also vice versa for other federation tournaments, so the argument that you have to be Irish,Scottish or whatever playing in a National qualifier is a non starter.
Maybe Ireland might in years to come get a sponsors wildcard also.No harm in trying!

Gary.

it would be nice to get one now!!! we are in fact the europeans biggest particapants at the european championship so why cant we get a spot or 2!!!

i think we deserve it....

thats why im trying my luck at the eurotour so maybe i can break into the top 50 and try and get through the door for indonesia 2008....
