Calcutta - Scottish 9 Ball Championship
Date: October 12, 2006 04:13AM
Hiya lads,

Just so you know, I will be running a Calcutta for the event next weekend in Kirkcaldy and here is a breakdown of what the Calcutta is all about.....

It is a great way for all the players to become involved in the tournament if they lose in the comp themselves, then their interest in another player winning them money by getting to the latter stages is a great buzz.

It's always a good idea to try and buy yourself for as little as possible (a 5 or 10), cause you would be getting a % of the total pot collected.

From memory, the last payout was.....40% to 1st place, 20% to 2nd place, 10% to 3rd/4th place and 5% to 5th-8th place.

All you need to do is finish in the last 8 for a slice of the pie.

So if the total pot is 500.......then you get 25 for coming in 8th.......now thats worth at least a 5 on yourself.

If all players put in a 10 to buy themselves, then the total pot would be around 800 or 900 depending on the entries.

All players who have been bought by someone else have the option to buy half of the bet back from the bidder.

So if say someone bought me for 100, then I could buy half (50) of that bet off them.

All money paid in will be paid out.

I'll start the ball rolling on the Calcutta then.....I bid on the following players:-

Pat Holtz 20
Michael Valentine 15
Jayson Shaw 15
Rob Mckenna 10
Paddy McLoughlin 10
Davy Jack 5
Steve Capaldi 5
Scott Gillespie 5
Scott Ross 5

Please bid only if your are serious about it and going to the event, don't spoil it for others, thanks.

I expect all those bids above will be beaten BTW, just creating some interest.

If you would like to bid then please put your bid on here or in the SAPPA forum here - [scottish9ball.com]

Cheers.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Ronnie I think Stevie Capaldi will be running a book on the day.

No other Irish lads having a punt on themselves to reach the last 8?

This event will be Double Elimination down to the last 16 and then straight KO.

I expect there will be loads of bidding on the day before the event kicks off, so it's best to get in quick with a good bid and hopefully win it here! :-)

Pat, Irish player to reach the last ? (is it any player or have you to name them. If there is a good price on this you will get agood few backers on this.

Last bid of 25 on Rob Mc Kenna (come on Pat no carry on) other than that i will have a bet on him and Michael with Stevie.

Ronnie, the calcutta is a bidding war, whoever bids the most wins the player.

If you fancy an Irish player to reach the last 8 then bid on him and if he reaches that or beyond then you win a % of the calcutta.
